About
Wietse Kuis

Medical career

From 1978 till 2010, Wietse Kuis (1946) was head of a children’s immunology department in the Wilhelmina's Children Hospital in Utrecht.

From 1995 till 2010 he was also a professor of Pediatrics in this same hospital.

In the 70’s, Wietse took drawing lessons in Amsterdam (studio of Aart Lamberts).

Painting Career

After his retirement he started a career as a painter. He published a book in which his drawings and sketches are shown.

This resulted in an exposition of his work which was presented in 2010 in the Utrecht’s ‘Central Museum’ gallery.

In 2012, Wietse exhibited a new series of paintings in the ‘Santa Domenico’ church in Narni, Italy.

Now

Currently Wietse has an atelier in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and Narni (Italy) where he continues working as an artist.

In october 2021 (20/9 - 24/10) a new exhibition with a few other artists is programmed for the Rietveldpaviljoen, Amersfoort (The Netherlands).

The exposition is called ‘Dante is still alive!‘
