Wietse Kuis

Medical career

From 1978 to 2010, Wietse Kuis (born in 1946) served as the head of the children's immunology department at Wilhelmina Children's Hospital in Utrecht.

Additionally, from 1995 to 2010, he held the position of Professor of Pediatrics at the same institution.

In the 1970s, Wietse also pursued drawing lessons at Aart Lamberts' studio in Amsterdam.

Painting Career

After his retirement, Wietse Kuis began a career as a painter. He published a book showcasing his drawings and sketches, which led to an exhibition of his work at the Central Museum gallery in Utrecht in 2010.

In 2012, Wietse exhibited a new series of paintings at the Santa Domenico church in Narni, Italy.

In 2021, the exhibition "Dante is Still Alive!" featured a new series of paintings by Wietse and several other artists at the Rietveldpaviljoen in Amersfoort, Netherlands.

Now

Currently, Wietse has ateliers in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Narni, Italy, where he continues to work as an artist.

In September 2024, a new exhibition featuring Wietse and several other artists is scheduled to take place in Narni, Italy.
